IBM 2-Factor Authentication Set up – Protect & Secure Account

IBM 2-Factor Authentication Set up is to add an extra layer of security to your IBM account online. This page will lead you through on how to enable 2fa on IBM.

Its called 2 steps verification or multi factor authentication. it comes in each time you want to login online , some set of information is really required.

With 2fa setup, you can log in to official website with a verification code in putting to username and password.

You can setup Trusted Browsers feature, to allow and move a trusted browsers so as to bypass  2FA process within 30 days.

When 2fa is been setup for Developer Portal website, you should configure admin account security and protection setting to use two factor authentication before connecting out of the account online.

Once 2FA will be enabled for both site and for admin account, you can  easily configure and setup who needs to use 2FA to access Developer Portal.

How to Setup 2 Factor Authentication on IBM

  1. Inside in your administrator dashboard, click on Configuration > People > Two-factor Authentication.
  2. Choose Enable 2FA check box. The see will show the configuration options for 2-factor authentication.
  3. Optional:  From the down Login plugins, you can easily choose Trusted Browsers check box. This  nice  feature will setup users to mark a specific web browsers as worthy ,  which will make 2FA token gotten from browser to be skipped within 30 days.
  4. Optional: From the down hand side of theRoles needs to have set up TFA, choose roles that needs users to enable 2FA.
  5. Click on the save configuration. 2-factor authentication is already setup for Developer Portal site.
  6. To enable permissions for 2-factor authentication, follow this step and guide:

    1. Click on the People > Permissions inside the administrator dashboard.
    2. Inside the Filter list empty field, enter 2FA . Following permissions will now show under PERMISSION heading:
      • Enabled 2FA for account – Sets who can now show turn on two-factor authentication for that very account,default this is inside administrators.
      • Administer 2FA – Allows and gives the modification of the 2-factor authentication setup. This permission shows should only be accessed to users with the administrator roles.
    3. Choose and deselect  check boxes inside columns for each role to appoint previously listed permissions.
    4. Click on the Save permissions. You have setup the permissions for 2-factor authentication.

    In order to setup admin account so as to use two-factor authentication, complete this steps:

    1. Click  on the admin account name which comes from the upper right of the UI. In case you are configuring or setting 2FA settings for a strong different account, click on the People on administrator dashboard, and choose username of your account that you want to configure. The account information page will now shown.
    2. Choose the Security tab.
    3. Click on the Set up application and add your current password. Click on the Confirm button. The 2FA setup – Application page will now appear.
    4. Configure 2FA settings that is really required.
    5. Click on Verify and save.
    6. 2-factor authentication is already enabled for your own account.
