Odoo 2-Factor Authentication Set up is to add an extra layer of security to your Odoo Account. Read down the page to see how to enable 2fa for both Backend and Portal Users.
Two factor authentication is also called 2 steps verification or multi factor authentication . The name is given to it is because it comes in each time you want to login, some set of information is needed.
A code will be sent on your phone number during time of authenticating account. Without the code no one else will be able to access or login to the account with another device.
For any unauthorized attempt made on the account with another device , two factor authentication will stop and hinder it from taking place. They will ask for a code sent during time of authentication.
2FA(Two Factor Authentication security app) include and add an extra layer of security/protection used to make sure people trying to access security in odoo admin / login and sign up account.
You will need to enter both your username and a password. Instead of gaining access, they will be ask you to get another credentials and setup takes minutes for it to be done.
It will make sure your account is been protected forever. The extra layer security uses Google Time Based OTP(TOTP) app, getting two factor authentication (TFA) anytime login wants to take place.
In case you are looking for an OTP Verification then odoo app is one stop solution for it , that is an extra layer of security is needed.
Anytime someone else enters both your username and password (in case) to login, a new page will just pop up and demand for a verification code.
The Time-based One-Time Google Authenticator app will then create qr code and password inside a phone number. A layer of security app will show a stable and strong security of system.
Any app which supports Time-based One-Time Password (TOTP) can easily be used to create security token for you.
